Film4, the digital TV movie service from the UK’s fourth largest broadcaster Channel 4, has racked up a ratings success with its best ever month for individuals.
In the latest data revealed, Film4 finished August 2011 with a 1.78% share. This has come on the back of other strong performances throughout the year such as in Q2 2011 when the channel announced its then best ever quarter, attracting an audience share of 1.34% and moving it up to sixth position in the YTD digital channel ratings.
For the UK Bank Holiday Monday of 29 August the channel pulled in what was its best ever daily share for individuals with 3.20%, including over a million viewers for Hollywood blockbuster Independence Day.
The channel offers a variety of film content genres and age demographics but it has of late found particular popularity among younger audiences. Its monthly share of 16-34s exceeded 2% for the first time, while the channel reported its best week ever for 16-34s at the end of the month with a 2.40% share.
Film4 also reported its best ever day for 16-34s with 4.70% in August, well ahead of the previous high of 3.69% in 2009. The month also witnessed Film4's highest monthly reach for younger viewers with an impressive 6.8m and 46.2% of all 16-34s tuning in to the channel at some time across August.
