German home-shopping broadcaster Channel 21 will cease its analogue DTH satellite transmission on Astra (19.2° East) on 30 September 2011. This was confirmed by a spokeswoman of the Hanover-based channel.
The programmes will continue to be available in digital on Astra, on cable networks, via DTT and as a live-stream on the website http://www.channel21.de.
Channel 21's Astra transponder (frequency: 11.244 GHz H) will be taken over by ORS, the technical services subsidiary of Austrian public broadcaster ORF, which will use the capacity to transmit new commercial channel ATV2 and sports channel ORF Sport Plus, among other services.
