The Czech Association of Television Organisations (ATO) has awarded the right to undertake electronic TV audience measurements to Mediaresearch.

This follows a tender in which three other companies – GfK Czech, TNS AISA and AC Nielsen Czech Republic – also participated and the licence will be valid from January 1, 2013 until December 3, 2017.

However, the decision is likely to be questioned by TV Nova, one of the members of the ATO. While the other members – CT, FTV Prima and AKA – have already accepted the decision, the CME-owned broadcaster is understood to have backed AC Nielsen Czech Republic.

In a separate though related development, the ATO has issued a statement denying press speculation that Mediaresearch has links with Petr Dvorak.

Dvorak was formerly the head of TV Nova and is widely tipped to take over at the public broadcaster CT.
