German pay-TV broadcaster Romance TV will launch a high-definition version of its channel on 27 September 2011.
Romance TV HD will initially be available exclusively on the cable network of Germany's second-largest cable operator Unitymedia in federal states North-Rhine Westphalia and Hessen.
The service will form part of subscription package "DigitalTV Allstars HD" which will contain a total of 18 HD channels from 27 September. With the launch of the HD version, Romance TV will also improve the picture quality of its standard-definition channel.
Since 1 September 2011, Romance TV has already been offering an HD simulcast of its channel in Poland.
With romantic series, movies and telenovelas, Romance TV targets a female audience from 30 years of age. The channel is operated by Munich-based Mainstream Media AG founded by media manager Gottfried Zmeck.
