RT, the increasingly successful and popular Russian English-language news channel has launched on mobile TV network Yamgo.
The English language RT channel was launched in 2005 and became the first Russian television channel to be shortlisted for an Emmy International Television Award. Bullishly the channel claims that in the USA, people in Washington and New York prefer RT to other international news channels such as Euronews, France 24, Deutsche Welle, Al Jazeera English, or China's CCTV News.
With viewers in over 100 countries spread across five continents, the 24/7 news channel is seeking out new horizons and is entering the global mobile channel on smartphones, iPad and tablet devices. Supported platforms and devices include the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch; Android; Nokia; BlackBerry; HTC; Samsung; and HP webOS.
RT is the latest addition to a Yamgo TV network line-up which now includes music, sports, movies, entertainment and news channels delivered over 2.5G, 3G and Wi-Fi networks.
In addition to regular news updates, Yamgo viewers will receive what RT says is a unique insight into many aspects of Russian history, culture and opinions. “We are pleased to be launching such a respected news channel as RT on the Yamgo network,” said Ian Mullins, CEO and Founder, Yamgo. “RT focuses on broadcasting high quality journalism delivered from a Russian perspective to an international audience. This approach has led RT to become renowned globally for its informative news coverage, quality of presenting and credible & trustworthy content.”
