The negotiations between Sky Deutschland and Unitymedia regarding cable carriage of the pay-TV broadcaster's HD channels have recommenced after years of stagnation.
Both sides have great desire to find a solution, Lutz Schüler, CEO of Germany's second-largest cable operator, told news agency Reuters. "The agreement could come this year, the implementation will take longer."
With the move, Sky would close the last major gap in cable distribution of its HD services. Currently, Unitymedia's 4.5 million customers can only receive one channel from Sky's total line-up of 13 HD channels.
