iPad feels the LOVEFiLM
Editor ©RapidTVNews | 29-09-2011 Just when its parent Amazon was capturing headlines by announcing a real competitor to Apple’s table phenomenon, content subsidiary LOVEFiLM launched an app for the iPad.
While not prtetending to have anwhere near the effect as the launch of the Kindle Fire, the new LOVEFiLM iPad app still is signifaciant in its own right allowing users to instantly watch, pause, fast-forward and rewind their movie stream, view trailers and add to their DVD rental list on the market leading platform.
The news comes only a day after The Amazon subsidiary signed an exclusive long-term deal with StudioCanal to secure a rights package for its customers in the UK and Germany. Under the deal, LOVEFiLM members in both countries will be able to access new and library movies from StudioCanal through the LOVEFiLM Player either on the PC, via in-home connected living room devices or on the PlayStation 3.
With the iPad app, LOVEFiLM subscribers can now access instant movies by linking their account with and those on packages of £5.99 or above can use the app at no extra cost by simply entering their login details.
Content that will be available; initially included titles from leading and independent studios such as Colin Firth's A Single Man, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the critically acclaimed drama The Wrestler, and access exclusive movies such as the global phenomenon The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and RED starring Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren.
