DStv pan-African iPad app unveiled by immedia
A new programming highlights guide for South Africa-based pay-TV platform DStv has been launched for the iPad, in what is being touted by digital developer immedia as the first of its kind for the continent.
"One of the biggest features of the new DStv Guide iPad app is that it's not a South African focused app – it's an African app. Any user in Africa will be able to download the app and see the programming, news, highlights, et cetera, relative to their country," said Kishyr Ramdial, head of development, immedia – according to a report in Media Update.
Based around a grid-and-list-based 10 day TV schedule, the app is, says immedia "enhanced by a host of new aspects". Namely channel filtering according to country, genre, DStv bouquet or the user's favourite channels; a reminder setting function; Facebook sharing; daily highlights; and entertainment news.
"The plan is to progress with more functionality and features as we learn how our uniquely African audience uses this app," said Ramdial. "But for now, its ease of use and personalisation are sure to make the new DStv Guide iPad app a must have for local connoisseurs of quality content."
