Early success for Cartoonito

09.26 Europe/London, October 4, 2011 By Julian Clover

Freshly launched pre-school channel Cartoonito has made an impressive debut in the Italian market.

On the first day of monitoring by Auditel Nielsen Media Research the Turner-Mediaset JV pulled ahead of all other free and pay channels in the target market. Mediaset’s Boing is already the most successful channel, in terms of ratings, for four to 14 year olds.
During Sunday October 2, the Cartoonito audience exceeded 32,000.
Jaime Ondarza, SVP and general manager Turner Broadcasting Italy and France, and Editorial Responsible of Boing and Cartoonito, said: “We are not surprised about Cartoonito’s success on its very first day of monitoring. The audience actually appreciates high quality content, also for preschooler target. Our viewers and advertising investors have now at their disposal a new TV offer which shares with its eldest brother Boing TV the leadership capacity and its focus on excellent contents. Thanks to the Italian families for trusting in our channels”.
Initially launched in the UK, Cartoonito is rolling out across Europe with a mix of branded blocks and dedicated channels.
