A set piece interview with President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso is to mark the launch of CNN Marketplace Europe on 13 October 2011.
The new weekly business programme will focus on the increasingly complex world of business in Europe at a time of what the channel calls unprecedented upheaval for the European Union and its immediate neighbours. The new show will be anchored by CNN’s business correspondent. Mann will travel across the continent to report on the business stories emerging around the region. CNN’s roster of business correspondents will also join the team to offer their expertise.

A special section of the programme, Facetime, will see CEOs and key players from Europe’s most innovative and successful companies offering their views on the opportunities and issues for European business, answering the big questions of the day.
In addition to the interview with José Manuel Barroso by Richard Quest, the initial programme will also feature Juliet Mann quizzing Secretary-General of the OECD, Angel Gurria, asking him what governments can do to ensure that Europe survives the current challenging economic climate.
Commented Deborah Rayner, CNN International Vice President and Managing Editor for Europe, Middle East and Africa: “At a time when Europe’s most senior business decision makers are looking for intelligent reporting and insight of crucial European issues, they are turning to CNN in large numbers. CNN Marketplace Europe meets their needs with a dedicated weekly show to help them stay ahead of the business news that matters most to them.”
