Chinese microblogging site Sina has started testing its own social video service, Kandian.
The service will allow users to watch films, real-time TV shows, music and other video content. They will also be able to subscribe to their favourite channels and programmes and create their own online video collection. Sina has described Kandian as a new multimedia platform based on the company's Twitter-like Weibo service, which has more than 200 million users.

Back in August, Sina bought a 9% stake in Chinese online video provider Tudou, but shares of Tudou have shrunk by nearly 50% since then, so it is unclear how Sina will proceed with Tudou.

Last month, Phoenix New Media launched a similar video service called WeiShiTong that enables users to discuss and interact with their favourite videos.
