German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will offer its mobile entertainment service Sky Go on Microsoft's games console Xbox 360 from winter 2011.
Xbox owners with a "Gold" membership and a Sky Go subscription will be able to access soccer games, sports and movies from pay-TV packages Sky Fußball Bundesliga, Sky Sport and Sky Film.
"Our goal is to constantly innovate and ensure Sky customers can watch our high quality, exclusive programmes whenever and wherever they choose, through as many devices as possible", Sky CEO Brian Sullivan said in Munich. "Through this cooperation with Microsoft we take the next step in the future of television."
With the Xbox 360, Sky will deploy Sky Go to another distribution platform following secondary TV sets, the internet, the iPhone and iPad. The service enables Sky subscribers to access content from the pay-TV packages they have signed up for at a location of their choice and while on the go.
From 18 October 2011, Sky Go will be available without additional charge for all Sky Premium HD subscribers as well as all Sky customers with a secondary smartcard subcription. The Xbox Live "Gold" membership costs €59.99 per year.
