The manifest value in TV sport has been exemplified by the Rugby World Cup final delivering an 82.3% share to TF1 who broadcast the game live in France.
The match, where hotly favoured the All Blacks just managed to inch over the line after a valiant fight back from France in New Zealand rugby temple Eden Park, attracted 15.38 million French viewers, the best audience of the year among all French channels ratings agency Médiamétrie points out.
However the best audience ever for the oval-ball game in the country was the semi-final between France and England in 2007 when 18.3 million viewers followed the match.
