Verimatrix, RGB Networks, itaas team to tame TV Everywhere deployment
Editor ©RapidTVNews | 26-10-2011 Three leading broadcast technology firms have entered a partnership claimed to allow providers to quickly and cost-effectively deploy multiscreen TV Everywhere services.
The partners— Verimatrix, RGB Networks and itaas —are confident that their holistic solution will offer the optimum products and services for TV Everywhere services that are increasingly in demand assessing over 120 million Internet connected mobile devices deployed for the service. Yet despite this demand, the partners warn that service providers of all sizes face the challenge of offering a multiscreen service quickly or risk losing viewers to fast-moving competitors.
Together, the three technology firms assure that they can provide a way to deploy a reliable solution for video streaming that reduces the time, effort and cost to launch multiscreen services. To this end itaas will provide system integration and interactive client apps for viewing content; RGB Networks will offer scalable multiscreen IP video delivery solutions Verimatrix is to add technology that will secure the multiscreen digital TV services.
“Building an adaptive bitrate IP video infrastructure can be a daunting task for even the largest, most technically proficient service provider," said Jim Elayan, vice president, business development and marketing for itaas.
In the project, itaas will serve as the 'prime contractor' contributing network architects, product integration and product testing capabilities as well as a client side solution for viewing content on a mobile device. At the outset of a project, network architects will assess a service provider's existing video delivery infrastructure and then work with RGB Networks and Verimatrix as well as content delivery network providers to design and implement a TV Everywhere solution that is claimed to leverage existing infrastructures and keep costs and complexity to a minimum.
