blinkx eyes ORB multiscreen streaming video partnership

Video search engine blinkx is teaming up with ORB Networks ion deal that it claims will see 35 million hours of TV, video and audio brought to the online video provider’s users.

As part of the deal, the blinkx catalogue will be offered through Orb’s products, namely the Orb BR and Orb TV services, and content on offer will range from Bloomberg and BBC news; Chic.TV, Fashion TV; Real Health TV and Turning Point TV.

Orb TV is a sub-$100 online video device the size of a hockey puck that plugs into any TV and enables consumers to stream online video and is controlled through an app from smartphones and tablets such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch as well as the equivalent Android devices. Orb TV also provides users with access to films and TV shows through services such as Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, Hulu and Comedy Central. Orb BR is a software solution uses PlayStation3 and connected Blu-ray players to bring users the same content as Orb TV and such players wil now be able to access blinkx content.
