Crackle, Sony Pictures Television's online streaming platform, is to launch in Brazil during the first quarter of 2012.
The copy believes that it will be the first to offer an online cross-platform entertainment network providing films and series in the region that is fully sponsored by advertising, and thus, available for free to Latin American consumers.
Content will arrive in this country first and later on will expand into the rest of the continent.
In order to put this project into operation, José Rivera-Font was appointed vice-president and general manager of Crackle for Latin America. He previously served as executive for customer and partner solutions at MGSCOMM.
Prior to that, he was vice-president and general manager of Yahoo! Hispanic Americas, where he was in charge of the strategic management of Yahoo!'s Hispanic business in Latin America.
Crackle's services will include a wide variety of Hollywood films in different genres: action, comedy, crime, horror, suspense and sci-fi, as well as a wide selection of episodes from hit TV series, and original and locally-produced Crackle series.
In the US, Crackle has grown to reach 10 million visitors that access the platform via internet, mobile devices or through any other OTT device, with over five million downloads of the Crackle app in just six months.
