Megacable carries on growing

Mexican cable operator Megacable grew 8% year on year in Q3 2011, reaching $1.646 billion in revenues billion adding 50,000 people to its subscriber base.
The company reported additional growth from new areas of the country through acquisition of assets, subscriber and concession rights for the cities of Uruapan, San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo, expanding its network and coverage.
With this acquisition, the company has added nearly 44,000 video subscribers, 10,000 internet subscribers and 2,000 fixed-line subscribers. It also added approximately 670 kilometres of cable distribution network which passes over 112,000 homes with an estimated population of over 400,000.
As for the pay-TV segment, Megacable ended the quarter with 1.864 million subscribers, over 118.000 net additions compared to the same quarter in 2010. The report shows that approximately 44,000 of these net additions were incorporated so far since the end of the third quarter via the acquisition of the cable systems of Uruapan, San Miguel Allende and Dolores Hidalgo. This means a growth of 6.8%.
Finally Megacable's digitalisation process saw over 96 thousand digital subscribers added for a total of 1.7 million total digital boxes.
