European Crime and Thriller appreciated at The Remakes Market

The upcoming TV adaptation event, The Remakes Market, that will take place on 14-16 November 2011 in Los Angeles, has fast become a showcase for European crime and thriller.
Potential remake properties from all over the world, and across all media, will be presented to North American content buyers and among them, the crime and thriller genres from Finland, Russia, Iceland and France are attracting huge interest, trade events organisation Basic Leads explained.
Available to US buyers will be Finnish thriller The Bodyguard, written by Leena Lehtolainen (1.8 million books sold internationally), along with Vertigo Production’s The Underworld Trilogy. This three part TV series, centres on the underground world of drug trafficking and money laundering in Eastern Europe.
A number of Russian properties including the financial thriller Pyramid from Planeta Inform, and based on the memoirs of Sergei Mavrodi, the Russian Bernie Madoff, are also creating a buzz with the US buyers. French rights owner Media Participation is also gaining strong US interest in its selection of best-selling comic books such as sci-fi story S.A.M.
Among confirmed US rights buyers are representatives from ABC Television network, CBS Films, Disney Channel Worldwide, DreamWorks, Entertainment One Group, New Regency Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures and the William Morris Agency.
