Deutsche Telekom increases IPTV subs
Jörn Krieger ©RapidTVNews | 11-11-2011 German telco Deutsche Telekom has acquired 74,000 new customers for its IPTV platform Entertain in Q3 2011. The growth was 4% higher than in Q3 2010 in which 71,000 new subscribers were added.
For its satellite package Entertain Sat which launched in early September 2011, Telekom has so far signed up 50,000 customers. The hybrid solution combines DTH satellite television via Astra (19.2° East) with interactive services sent to the TV screen by ADSL. However, the pay-TV packages including football Bundesliga channel "LIGA total!" are not part of the hybrid bouquet.
In total, Entertain now has 1.38 million customers. One year ago, it was 1.04 million. Telekom wants to increase the customer number to 1.5 million by the end of 2011.
Each year, the company wants to win around 500,000 new subscribers for Entertain.
