Unitymedia adds ProSiebenSat.1 HD
Jörn Krieger ©RapidTVNews | 15-11-2011 Germany's second-largest cable operator Unitymedia will commence carriage of Sat.1 HD, ProSieben HD and kabel eins HD on 15 November 2011.
The customers will initially be able to receive the high-definition versions of the three general interest commercial channels at no additional charge.
The free introductory period will end on 31 January 2012. Viewers wanting to continue watching the channels will have to order the corresponding TV package by telephone. Unitymedia didn't disclose the subscription cost yet.
The subsidiary of US media company Liberty Global reached an agreement with TV group ProSiebenSat.1 regarding cable distribution of the HD channels in October 2011 . Women's channel sixx HD will be added in 2012.
In future, Unitymedia wants to carry more HD channels from pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland on its network. CEO Lutz Schüler hinted in September 2011 that such an agreement would soon be in place .
