Movistar Imagenio boasts subs success
Iñaki Ferreras ©RapidTVNews | 15-11-2011 Spanish DSL pay-TV operator Movistar Imagenio grew 17.7% more in the first nine months of 2011 meaning that it now has 3.20 million subscribers across the world.
The news comes in the wake of the firm’s parent Telefónica producing some horrible numbers for its Q3 2011, and Movistar Imagenio attributes the growth to commercial repositioning in Latin America and Spain and also of the inclusion of 151,000 subscribers of Brazil’s TVA which was bought out by Telefónica in June 2011.
Movistar Imagenio's domestic subs grew by 4% year on year and now reach 804.000, after having gained 20,000 clients in Q3 this year. This breaks the losing streak in terms of subs that the operator has suffered from during 2011 and coincides with the improvement of football content with the inclusion of Prisa TV's Canal+1.
Finally as for Latin America, the company has accrued 2.2 million clients meaning the platform has gained 398.000 new subscribers in the nine first months of this year.
