Dubai is to host the global premiere of Tom Cruise's latest film, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, at a gala screening to open the city's annual film festival on 7 December.
Cruise will join the film's Oscar-winning director Brad Bird and co-stars Paula Patton, Simon Pegg and Bollywood's Anil Kapoor on the red carpet in Dubai; all returning to a city which provides some memorable backdrops within the fourth instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise.
The team spent six weeks' filming in Dubai last year, with shots across the creek, downtown financial area and Palm island development. One memorable stunt sees Cruise scaling Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building.
"Dubai and the UAE are the Mission: Possible of the Arab world, so this link is particularly fitting," said Abdulhamid Juma, chairman, Dubai International Film Festival.
"On behalf of the people of our amazing city and nation, we thank Paramount Pictures and the Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol producers for showing the world the contemporary, successful and diverse Arab world."
