South Africa pay-TV platform DStv has become available for subscribers of MTN's third generation (3G) mobile network, which will facilitate the faster streaming of popular sports, music and entertainment channels.

The service, which began with MTN Play on 15 November, provides 11 channels for a subscription of R40 per month or R15 per week.
"We are very excited that the service is now available to a wider audience on different platforms. Our broadcast mobile TV service has been available from MTN for close to a year and bringing mobile TV on a 3G platform is a natural progression of our partnership," says Mark Rayner General Manager: DStv Mobile South Africa.
Sports coverage is provided courtesy of Live on SuperSport and SuperSport Blitz; music by way of Channel O and TRACE Urban; children's entertainment from Cartoon Network and Boomerang Mobile; and news from CNN. Meanwhile AfricaMagic provides a wide range of African content; while Hollywood updates and scandal comes from SawSee and E! Entertainment Mobile.
"We believe that this service will offer value to our customers; coupled with our network capability, we are certain that their experience will be seamless. The affordability of the service will ensure that our customers always enjoy value-added services that are simple and convenient," said Mapula Bodibe, South Africa general manager: consumer marketing, MTN.
