Already a pioneer in digital development, the French-German cultural channel Arte is to strengthen its web presence in 2012, and will take advantage of the new January schedules.
All programmes will get an online version, and new thematic platforms will be launched, exploring subjects such as history, cinema, etc. The idea is to create a kind of ‘online galaxy’ revolving around the Arte broadcast channel.
Anticipating the arrival of connected TV, Arte’s new line-up will be based on new documentary slots, news analysis, and French or European TV series.
Arte also wants viewers to gain easy access to prime-time schedules so each evening slot will be dedicated to a specific theme, for example movies on Mondays, investigative programmes on Tuesdays, or creative ones on Wednesdays. The 2012 objective is also to make culture a pleasure, and the channel’s tone will be transformed to become more upbeat.
