Sky News Arabia lifts the lid on pre-launch preparations

A weekly video blog charting the life of a channel in waiting has been set up by Sky News Arabia, which is gearing up to launch its Arabic rolling news service in spring 2012.
"We want to inspire young journalists and media professionals," said Scott Hicks, commercial and marketing director, Sky News Arabia. "As an Arabic channel for Arab people, Sky News Arabia has already created a relationship with its audience through its sleekly designed website and is looking to strengthen this platform with the addition of the new video blog.
The video blog, called 'Diary of a start-up', h**p://www.skynewsarabia.com/diary/ hopes to provide viewers with an insight into the professional work which goes into establishing a new international television channel.
"Sky News Arabia will deliver news as it happens, and until the channel officially launches, we want to show our viewers the real effort we are putting into the preparations for the big date. We want share our learning and celebrate our milestones with our audience," added Hicks.
Earlier this month, Sky News Arabia launched the first of its annual broadcast training courses at Dubai Women's College to encourage Emiratis to join its staff base, which is expected to reach 370.
Sky News Arabia, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, is a 50:50 joint venture between BSkyB and the Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation.
