France Télévisions to invest more cash in programmes

France Télévisions’ agreement on targets and resources which was signed on Tuesday with the French state, has set up a 2.8% growth on programme spending for the 2011-2015 period.
€480m will be poured annually to creation, which is 5.7% more than in 2011. €420m will go to television production, and €60m to the cinema industry. In 2010, FTV poured €454m into creation, including €395m into TV and €59m for cinema.
The agreement with the French state also aims to strengthen the editorial line and identity of each of the group’s channels (France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5, France Ô), and offer ambitious cultural and musical shows. After kicking-off recent online news platform Francetvinfo, FTV’s further digital array will be the announced launch of online sport and live spectacles platforms.
