Sports channel ESPN is to show the games of Germany's first-division football league Bundesliga in the whole of Latin America.
The Disney subsidiary acquired the exclusive rights for the upcoming three seasons between 2012/13 and 2014/15, German football association DFL Sports Enterprises announced in Frankfurt.
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. With the new contract, the channel, which currently only holds the Bundesliga rights for Brazil, can expand its coverage to all countries in Latin America including key markets such as Argentina and Mexico.
ESPN will screen up to three live games per weekend as well as highlight coverage of all matches. In addition to the Bundesliga, the channel also shows games of the Premier League and other European leagues plus the UEFA Champions League.
ESPN is also Bundesliga's TV partner in other international markets such as the UK.
