    Swiss telco Sunrise wants to launch an IPTV platform in early 2012. The internal friendly user tests have commenced in October 2011, the company announced in Zurich.

    The product, through which Sunrise will develop into a quadruple play provider for commercial customers, will be finalised in the next months. Pricing and packaging details have not been announced yet.
    The largest competitor of national telco Swisscom currently offers broadband internet, fixed-line telephony and mobile network services.

    Swiss Sunrise prepares IPTV launch

    Sunrise, owned by private equity group CVC, is preparing to launch a full-fledged IPTV service early next year.

    Sunrise is the number two mobile operator in Switzerland and the number three broadband provider, with 366,000 customers on September 30, 2011, behind Cablecom (535,400 homes) and incumbent Swisscom’s (1.635 million homes).
    The telco began conducting consumer trials in October and plans to roll put its new IPTV product during the first quarter of 2012 as part of a quad-play offer of mobile and fixed telephony, broadband access and digital TV.
    No details have been released with regards to pricing or packaging. At the moment, Sunrise has a TV to PC offer available to its broadband customers.
