In what may be the clearest indication yet of the success of connected devices in the home, Sky Movies is now available live and on demand in the UK on mobile and tablet platforms as part of the Sky Go programme.
The launch represents yet another triumph for Sky Go which since its launch in July 2011 boasts almost two million unique users across more than 2.5 million devices. In October 2011 alone, users viewed over 30 million pieces of content including fellow flagship offering Sky Sports.Running initially as an app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch—with an Android version expected in the coming weeks—Sky Movies now claims to offer a seamless multi-platform, multi-screen experience spanning 3D, HD, Anytime+, Sky+ as well as Sky Go.
Using initially a Wi-Fi connection, Sky Movies subscribers can now stream content on demand from all 11 of the services film channels on a linear basis. These comprise Sky Movies Action & Adventure, Sky Movies Classics, Sky Movies Comedy, Sky Movies Drama & Romance, Sky Movies Family, Sky Movies Indie, Sky Movies Modern Greats, Sky Movies Premiere, Sky Movies SciFi/Horror, Sky Movies Showcase and Sky Movies Crime & Thriller.
New release titles available through Sky Go will include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Little Fockers, Black Swan, Gulliver’s Travels and Limitless.
The launch follows several recent enhancements to Sky Movies, including an enlarged Sky Box office service, and is also a natural extension of the currently available Sky Movies App for iPhone and iPad which offer listings for movies currently showing on Sky Movies and at the cinema, movie trailers and the option to record movies via Sky+ remote record.
