German TV group ProSiebenSat.1 wants to extend its domestic pay-TV line-up. Free-to-air channel ProSieben will get a pay-TV sister service named ProSieben Fun.

Explaining the move at a presentation for investors, Christoph Bellmer, managing director of subsidiary SevenSenses, added that ProSieben Fun, as well as the existing two pay-TV channels Sat.1 Comedy and kabel eins classics will also be offered in high-definition in future. Sat.1 Comedy will be renamed Sat.1 Emotions in order to better distance itself from ProSieben Fun.
ProSieben Fun, which Bellmer describes as "the little, but edgy brother of ProSieben", will screen shows and entertainment programmes including exclusive content, current movies, series, sitcoms, comedy formats, fun sports and music events. Selected shows will run on ProSieben Fun ahead of their free-TV airing, for example talent show "Germany's Next Top Model" with Heidi Klum.
ProSiebenSat.1 is currently negotiating with platform operators to secure carriage deals for the channel designed for viewers between 14 and 39 years of age, according to Bellmer.
Sat.1 Emotions will target a female audience between 14 and 49 years of age with series and movies. The daily soaps and telenovelas from Sat.1's schedule will debut on the channel ahead of their free-TV screening. The channel will also show Sat.1's made-for-TV films as first runs.
