Fresh Meat adds to increased taste for Channel 4 VOD

Comedy series Fresh Meat has given added impetus to Channel 4’s 4oD video on demand proposition, ensuring that VOD views continued on their upward trajectory throughout 2011.

The channel's monthly report into VOD consumption for October 2011 found that the UK’s fourth largest broadcaster registered 34 million long form VOD views across all platforms— —including, YouTube, SeeSaw, iOS, PlayStation, BT Vision, Virgin Media and Talk Talk—represnting a month on month rise of 1 million views, and contributing to a cumulative 342 million views for the year to date, a rise of 15.9% year on year.
On the main 4oD platform, 4oD on Channel, average monthly unique users rose to 4.2 million, up 300,000 on September’s figures.
In terms of individual programmes, the aforementioned comedy series which has just ended its first run was the most viewed series in October 2011 with nearly 3 million views, followed by soap opera Hollyoaks with 2.5 million views, up 9.7% on the previous month. Reality series Made in Chelsea was the third most popular series on 4oD, winning 2.4 million views during the month for Season 2 with new educational documentary series Educating Essex attracting 1.4 million VOD views.
