Taiwan's TV industry is optimistic about China's move last week to promote greater co-operation in co-producing TV dramas.

Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for China’s Taiwan Affairs Office, said Beijing would accelerate the process of reviewing and approving the broadcast of TV dramas jointly produced by Taiwan and China.
This will be one of three major steps to to encourage greater cross-strait interaction in the arts.
The second will be to schedule regular broadcasts of such productions on China's major state broadcaster China Central Television, which reaches over 1 billion viewers.
Thirdly, China pledged to generally create more opportunities for Taiwanese entertainers to work in the broader Chinese market.
Currently, Taiwanese dramas are considered foreign productions, which means they cannot be broadcast during prime time on China’s TV stations.
