Alpha Galore films is experimenting with VOD distribution for its film Anchor Baby, by offering fans with a Facebook page, Twitter or a blog the ability to embed the Anchor Baby video player on their site at no cost, and earn 10% commission on rentals.
The idea behind the affiliate strategy is to provide a powerful incentive for Web denizens to promote the film and take it viral.
The rentals will cost $4.99, and viewers can watch the rented movie 5 times within 30 days, and will be able to watch Anchor Baby on any PC or Mac computer, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and any other mobile device connected to the Internet.
Alpha Galore has teamed up with the Distrify movie distribution tool to enable the service, which will go live 23 December.
"This is a great revenue generating option for all the entertainment blog Web sites, Facebook-page and Twitter-account owners out there," the company said in a statement. "Click and share the movie online and get paid 10% commission for recommending a good movie to your friends."
Enterprising bloggers for instance can write a review for the movie online, embedding the same video at the bottom of the page for readers to watch the entire movie instantly.
