Surang Prempree will next year see her 26-year reign at Thailand's BBTV Channel 7, the operator of the country's largest free TV network, come to an end.

According to satellite TV news provider Springnews, Krit Ratanarak, the head of the Ratanarak family, which owns a majority stake in BBTV Channel 7, has endorsed a major reshuffle. He decided not to renew Surang's annual employment contract, and appointed her deputy Saran Virutamawong as the new managing director. The decision comes into effect on 1 January 2012.
Surang is technically retired but still works for the company on a special contract, which must be renewed on an annual basis.
