There is no doubt that the economic and financial crisis is affecting the Spanish TV advertising sector with research showing a 9% year on year fall.
The survey from the Spanish Telecommunications Market Commission (CMT) found that between July and September this 2011, advertising revenues from Spanish private television amounted to €328.95 million, compared with €361.32 million for the same period in 2010.
The decline was particularly evident in the case of local and regional channels where revenues fell from €48.33 million in 2010 to €36.43 in 2011, a frightening 24.6% cut down in advertising revenues.
Yet on the other hand, pay-TV subscriptions increased by 3.7% by reaching €325.75 million , which inspired a 7.1% spike in revenues from this sector, which closed at €1.388 billion. In total, some 4.4 million people subscribed to pay-TV.
