Azerbaijan could complete the transition to digital broadcasting in the next few months.
However, the actual date will depend on whether or not the government provides 120,000 low-income families with free decoders.
Quoted by ABC, Nushiravan Maharramli, the president of the country’s National TV & Radio Broadcasting Council, said that the council has asked the president of Azerbaijan to approve the free decoders and that the request was currently being considered by the government.
He added that all Azerbaijani TV channels have been simulcasting in analogue and digital to 85% of the country’s territory since December 22.
