Mega Canal 9 purchased by Bethia

Chile’s Bethia company has signed an acquisition contract to buy Claro’s Mega Canal 9 iun a deal worth $143 million.
Mega is currently the third highest-rated network in Chile and according to local news organisation 'La Nación', the actual sale will come into effect on 15 March and will include broadcast TV network and three of its affiliates including kids' network ETC TV and the ad sales of the Cingo organisation.
The Bethia company, run by Liliana Solari and Carlos Heller, and with this deal, the company will expand its business opportunities by working with a TV network for the first time.
The network's price became higher due to Chile's dynamic market after the arrival of the Luksic company to Canal 13; and Turner acquiring Chilevisión in 2011.
The Mega network was the very first cable TV network in Chile, created by Ricardo Claro in 1989 under the name Megavisión, and rapidly became as successful as some of the country's main channels such as TVN and Canal 13.
