China's campaign to curb "overly entertaining" TV shows has been successful, according to state media.
In October, broadcast regulator SARFT ordered a limit on the number of programmes dealing with marital troubles and matchmaking, talent shows, game shows, variety shows, talk shows, and reality programming.

By the end of last year, satellite channels had begun showing programmes that "promote traditional virtues and socialist core value", according to Xinhua news agency, which said SARFT "believes that the move to cut entertainment programming is crucial in improving cultural services for the public by offering high quality programming."
