Deutsche Telekom wants to make its IPTV platform Entertain available on PCs, tablet-PCs and smartphones in addition to the conventional TV set in future.

Germany's national telco has for this purpose formed a technology partnership with MobiTV, a US-based company specialising in converged media solutions.
The companies want to jointly develop a 'TV everywhere' solution to enable TV reception on any authorised end-device. With the offering, Entertain customers will be able to watch real-time TV, their own recordings and video-on-demand (VOD) content on multiple devices.
"The collaboration with MobiTV will mark the launch of a new TV experience at Entertain", said Christian P. Illek, head of marketing at Telekom Deutschland. "With the development of Entertain into a converged media platform we will offer our customers universal TV access on multiple end-devices and even more comfortable TV consumption."
Telekom confirmed in autumn 2011 that it would roll out Entertain to further reception devices this year. The IPTV platform, which currently has 1.3 million customers, contains around 140 TV channels, 15,000 VOD titles, around 2,500 radio stations and a 3D service.
