Perhaps the closest that many will ever get to, say, a 10-carat diamond, or driving a Ferrari on the Autobahn, is the new 3D channel from WealthTV.
The company is taking luxury and lifestyle programming to the next dimension with a 24-hour feed available on a 24/7 basis via Roku's 2.5 million connected boxes throughout the United States. It joins a select few programmers, like ESPN, in embracing 3D. The technology, while embedded in many new televisions, has yet to take off with consumers.
"With every major TV manufacturer leading its lineup with 3D televisions and consumers clamoring for quality 3D programming, WealthTV is extremely pleased to answer the call by delivering WealthTV 3D," said Robert Herring, CEO of WealthTV. "WealthTV 3D allows viewers to travel the world and enjoy the finest experiences, whether it's touring Mayan ruins, strolling the sandy beaches in the Seychelles, or driving behind the wheel of a Bugatti, without leaving the comfort of their living room."
The network has been in the 3D business via its video on demand (VOD) service since 2010, and the linear feed will leverage that expertise. The new channel will feature a variety of programming from travel documentaries to automobile shows to sports, including boxing in conjunction with Don King Productions.
The company said additional launches beyond Roku are planned.
