The St. Louis Rams and head coach Jeff Fisher have made another high-profile addition to their staff with the hiring of Brian Schottenheimer as their new offensive coordinator, a league source said Saturday.
Another league source last week said that Schttenheimer had been offered the job, and the former Jets offensive coordinator planned to accept the position.
NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported this week, citing a league source, that Fisher also had interviewed recently fired Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson for the vacant coaching position.
Schottenheimer ran the Jets offense for six years, a unit that often failed to live up to expectations. The Jets quickly hired former Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano to replace Schottenheimer.
Schottenheimer joins a staff that added former New Orleans Saints assistant coach Gregg Williams as its defensive coordinator.
