Score another point for independent film: The award-winning family dramedy Expecting Mary will soon become available to U.S. audiences via their TVs.
Distribution company Echo Bridge Entertainment has acquired the domestic television distribution rights for the movie. The 97-minute indie film focuses on Mary, a pregnant teen who runs away from her rich but neglectful mother and is taken in by eccentrics living in a trailer park in New Mexico. There she finds the meaning of love and the importance of family.
“A warm family dramedy with a twist, Expecting Mary champions a very uplifting, universal message about the importance of family values that will resonate with every family in America,” said Kevin Tannehill, head of U.S. television at Echo Bridge.
“We are really focused on aggressively growing our 2012 slate of programming in order to keep providing U.S. broadcasters with premium content for their audiences.”
Expecting Mary’s cast is notable: It includes Cloris Leachman, Elliot Gould, Linda Gray, Cybill Shepherd comedian Fred Willard, KISS frontman Gene Simmons and Della Reese.
