Deutsche Telekom invests into online video

T-Venture, the venture capital subsidiary of German telco Deutsche Telekom, and Berlin-based investment funds IBB have poured fresh capital into online video marketing company Clipkit.
The cash injection which amounts to a medium-sized seven-digit euro figure will be used to develop its own video player technology and considerably expand its video content library and reach, the Berlin-based company said in a statement. Also, the team headed by Cengiz Kurt and Mathias Blüm which currently contains 24 employees will be extended by hiring new staff in the areas of sales, products and technology.
"Our mission for 2012 is to strengthen our position as both the innovation leader among German video syndication services and one of the leading video marketers in Germany", said Blüm. "We are excited to get the trust and boost of Deutsche Telekom and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft to realise our product and sales agenda both in Germany and internationally."
Clipkit provides publishers with a white label solution for premium video content for their mobile and stationary websites financed through advertising opportunities it markets to advertisers.
