Gerhard Zeiler, CEO of Europe's largest commercial TV, radio and production company RTL Group and board member of parent group Bertelsmann, will leave both companies on 18 April 2012.
The Austrian national will become new president of Turner Broadcasting System International, a subsidiary of US media giant Time Warner.
Guillaume de Posch and Anke Schäferkordt will succeed Zeiler as co-CEOs at RTL Group. De Posch, currently COO of the group, will take over responsibility for broadcasting operations outside Germany and the company's production business. Schäferkordt, head of RTL in Germany, will continue to manage the German TV business.
At Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), Zeiler will head the global portfolio of television networks and related businesses. "This move is an opportunity to help grow some of the most valuable media brands in the world and develop new businesses," said Zeiler. "This is an exciting time for our industry and for Turner Broadcasting and I believe in our ability to lead and succeed."
Turner Broadcasting System International operates localised versions of TBS channels including CNN, TNT, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Turner Classic Movies. The company's portfolio comprises more than 130 channels in over 30 languages in around 200 countries around the world.
As president of Turner Broadcasting System International, Zeiler will have executive oversight for all TV channels and media services outside North America, all international joint ventures, licensing and merchandising activities. The 56-year old will lead a 3,800-person division across Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
