Most TV sets in Azerbaijan not ready for digital

Over 50% of the TV sets used by the Azerbaijani population are not ready for the reception of digital signals. The Communication and Information Technologies Ministry has stressed that in order to make use of digital broadcasting services, itís necessary to purchase a digital decoder, the cost of which is about $30-35, and locally produced decoders are even cheaper.

TV sets bought in 2010 and later are fully ready for reception of digital signals and do not require installation of additional devices. To solve problems of transition to digital broadcasting, the National Broadcasting Council has applied to the government with a proposal to install free decoders for the TV sets used by 130,000 poor families.
