The local and regional commercial broadcasters from German federal state Bavaria will get additional financial state subsidies to expand their digital satellite distribution to DTH households on Astra (19.2° East).
According to new model, which the Bavarian Cabinet passed on 14 February 2011, the state support for the 16 broadcasters will be increased to €8 million in 2013 and to €10 million per year between 2014 and 2016.
Instead of four, the broadcasters will in future be transmitted across 10 digital satellite channels as well as making their way onto new distribution platforms such as hybrid-TV.
Local Bavarian media authority BLM which organises the move wants to realise the expansion plans this year.
