FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons filled the void left by Les Snead's departure to St. Louis, promoting Dave Caldwell to director of player personnel and DeJuan Polk to director of pro scouting.

The Falcons announced the moves Tuesday, shortly after the Rams hired Snead as their new general manager. He had spent 13 years with the Falcons, the last three as director of player personnel.
Caldwell will take over that post, moving up after spending the previous four seasons as director of college scouting. Polk has been in Atlanta's scouting department the past six years. His most recent duties included all professional leagues, as well as advance scouting.
General manager Thomas Dimitroff says Caldwell and Polk "have been essential in helping construct our team."
