UAE satellite operator YahLive has allocated satellite capacity and high definition (HD) channels in preparation for the Arab world's broadcast coverage of the London 2012 Olympics in July and August.
YahLive will provide local connections and uplink facilities through European partnerships, including DVB/S2 MPEG-4 encoding for satellite broadcasting to the Middle East via the YahSat Y1A satellite.
"Our orbital location of 52.5 degrees East provides an ideal line of sight for direct reception within the MENA region. Using YahLive's unique connectivity, broadcasters can transmit their Olympics TV coverage on a demand basis or HD channel on a 24/7 basis for the duration of the Olympic Games," said Eddy Frankland, chief commercial operator of YahLive.
The 2012 Summer Olympics will be hosted by the City of London at the New Olympic stadium in East London, with an array of Olympic events taking place at 30 different UK locations.
