German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will expand its mobile entertainment service Sky Go on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
From spring 2012, the owners of the mobile handsets developed by Apple will be able to access hundreds of movies.
Following the iPad, Internet and Xbox 360, the film on-demand service will thereby become available on another distribution platform. Access will be through 3G mobile networks and Wi-Fi hotspots. Subscribers of Sky's movie channels will be able to use the service at no additional charge.
The line-up will comprise titles from Hollywood studios such as Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney as well as from independent producers including "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", "The King's Speech", "Sucker Punch" and "The Smurfs".
The expanded Sky Go app will complement the existing offering which comprises live sports via Sky Sport 1, Sky Sport 2 and Sky Sport Austria as well as current news, video highlights and the Sky datacentre.
Sky Go, which launched in April 2011, was used by a total of 594,000 people at the end of 2011.
