ProSiebenSat.1 takes over UK production firm Endor

German TV group ProSiebenSat.1 continues its shopping spree in the UK. Its subsidiary Red Arrow will take over the majority stake in film and TV production company Endor, reports German financial newspaper Handelsblatt.

“The UK is our most important market besides the United States. We will enter a new dimension through the acquisition of UK-based production firm Endor," Jan Frouman, CEO of Red Arrow, told the newspaper. He added that through the purchase ProSiebenSat.1 the company would now cover all important genres such as series, event mini series, prime-time shows and factual entertainment in the UK's TV market. ProSiebenSat.1 declined to reveal the financial details of the deal. Recently, the Munich-based TV group, acquired the majority in UK-based production company CPL Productions ( ProSiebenSat.1's UK foothold also includes the majority interest in The Mob Film Company.
As its next step, the company wants to expand its presence in the United States. "We are talking to a number of production firms in the USA," confirmed Frouman. "We can imagine taking over further companies in the world's largest TV market." Regarding the reason for the high purchase interest, Frouman said: "The market is nowhere more lucrative than in the USA."
